Is it hard to train a falcon to hunt?
If you are in the US you must get proper permits and work under a general or master falconer for 2-3 yrs. They will teach you the process of training the bird, housing it etc. Also in the US you don't by your first bird nor can it be a falcon. Your first bird must be a Red-tail hawk, red shoulder hawk, american kestrel or in alaska only a goshawk. You may only have one bird while under an apprentice permit and it must be wild caught. You cannot purchase a bird or keep a falcon of any kind until you have reach the general falconry permit level. At apprentice level you must have a general or master falconry sponser and p the written test, have propper housing (per permit requirements) etc before you can have the bird.
