How do i turn off autocomplete in firefox 3.6.8 for mac os x?

running firefox 3.6.8 on os x 10.5.x, and noticed that credit card numbers and other sensitive info seem to be saved in the autocomplete database. but i can no longer find where to edit that. i go to preferences>privacy and all i see if history and location options. likewise with preferences>security. can you help?
